Yes, I think so.

We just need to be carefull about filesystem used for osd storage daemon.

We can use xfs or btrfs,  xfs is stable and supported but btrfs not is not enough stable yet.

Done some research, looks ceph servers runs completely in user space - is that right? 

So there is no dependency on kernel version?
