yes, CDDL license.
But it's not a problem for a remote zfs storage.

Maybe can we implemented solaris zfs/iscsi commstar.
They are a lot of free/opensource implementation of opensolaris. (napp-it,OmniOS,...).

I don't known the state of zfs freebsd and zfs on linux seem to be more a hack.


I think that reuse the nexenta plugin should be easy, nexenta api is just a mapping to zfs commands + commstar commands.

You are right but if we use ssh as a means of communication then we 
should be fine since we then will not do any actual use of the code 
base.
