my test cluster is:

3 x dell r620 (direct backplane 8 disks)
2 x E5-2603v2 1.8GHz (4cores)
32GB ram
sas controller : lsi LSI 9207

os + ceph mon : 2x intel s3500 100gb linux soft raid
osd : crucial m550 (1TB) or intel s3500 (800GB)

network : 2xgigabit link lacp + 2xgigabit lacp for cluster replication.
(mellanox 40gb is planned for next year)

I'll try to bench drives individually with fio for some days,
then after with ceph 0.85.
deb http://gitbuilder.ceph.com/ceph-deb-wheezy-x86_64-basic/ref/v0.85/

I have 3 crucial m550 and 3 intel s3500, so I'll do 2 tests, with 1 osd by node.

I also notice that last intel s3500 firmware from this summer, expose 4k sectors now,
I don't know if if can improve performance or not.
