[pve-devel] proxmox training week : error starting lxc with network interface

Also,

not related, but I have noticed than when container don't start,

the cgroup is not removed

/sys/fs/cgroup/*/lxc/<ctid>

and when you start the ct again, a new cgroup is created with a suffix

/sys/fs/cgroup/*/lxc/<citd>-1

That mean than if you fix the mac address, then start the CT again, it's working,

but dynamic cpus, memory changes don't work anymore, because we use the wrong cgroup (we always use /sys/fs/cgroup/*/lxc/<ctid>)

I don't known if they are a clean way to remove the cgroup if ct crash ? (systemd ?)

Indeed, odd number in second nibble don't work (1,3,5,7,...,F)

does it work with another odd number in the second hex-digit? ("X1:",
"X3:","X5:",..."XC:" (for X =~ /A-F0-9/))?

An alternative would be to 'die' in 'PVE::Tools::random_ether_addr',
if the 'mac_prefix' has the bit set (we do clear it if no 'mac_prefix'
is set) - That way we wouldn't write broken configs in the first place.
Not 100% sure about potential breakage for setups that currently work
with such a prefix (although I could imagine that quite a few
switches/hosts might drop packets to a multicast-address without any
listeners, or maybe flood them out all ports) - did you by any chance
see whether the qemu-guests worked correctly (and whether the prefix
made all packets get forward to all ports)?
