[PVE-User] Only loopback interface seen by ifconfig - Why?

It's CentOS that is loaded as a VM and I tried both Venet and Veth but I
only see "lol" as the interface. Once the VM is lunched what are the
post-VM-lunch instructions to get the network going as it doesn't do that
automatically.?
