I never noticed that page on the wiki, and I am not sure what is
talking about who wrote that page.

We use Linux raid because we don't want to lost data thanks to
hardware vendors not supporting their products after few years, and
because linux raid is stable enough by years.

However, I got no problems at all using software raid on proxmox host
since I started using it (6 months), on two distinct production
servers.
