For the sake of completeness:

on pve-kernel-2.6.32-19-pve: 2.6.32-96

root at vm006:~# pveperf
CPU BOGOMIPS: 19199.16
REGEX/SECOND: 937362
HD SIZE: 4.58 GB (/dev/mapper/vm006-ROOT)
BUFFERED READS: 422.96 MB/sec
AVERAGE SEEK TIME: 3.20 ms
FSYNCS/SECOND: 221.53
DNS EXT: 43.49 ms

on pve-kernel-2.6.32-23-pve: 2.6.32-109

root at vm006:~# pveperf
CPU BOGOMIPS: 19200.36
REGEX/SECOND: 965099
HD SIZE: 4.58 GB (/dev/mapper/vm006-ROOT)
BUFFERED READS: 426.39 MB/sec
AVERAGE SEEK TIME: 3.35 ms
FSYNCS/SECOND: 3990.06
DNS EXT: 37.40 ms

This is on a 4 disk RAID5 array. Performance on RAID1 and RAID10 is similar.

So the kernel or drivers are definitely involved here.

Thanks again for the help!

Frederic
