I dont know details about this controller, but the 3ware 9650SE-2LP controllers also cannot use a BBU but you can still activate the write cache through the Controller BIOS (Alt+3 while booting). But be aware, that it is not advised to activate the write cache without a BBU since a power failure can result in data loss. Vassilis
